About Our Event

Battle of the Chefs: A Benefit for JESPY House will be held at the historic Orange Lawn Tennis Club on Thursday, June 23 at 6pm. We will raise crucial funds to support JESPY clients — adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), while honoring The Cottingham Family, The Oppenheimer Family, and The Plotnick Family.

Updated with modern comforts and amenities in keeping with yesterday’s charm, Orange Lawn Tennis Club is a South Orange jewel JESPY is proud to partner with for our biggest fundraiser of the year!

Our Battling Chefs

Chef Tony Villanueva began mentoring Chef Ivan Villanueva over 15 years ago. Now the two will battle head-to-head to see who will win the title of Battle of the Chefs: A Benefit for JESPY House champion.

Donors at the Friend level and above may leave a tribute message for our honorees and will be recognized on the event website and during the event.

Notice to Attendees

Members of our JESPY Family are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. Therefore, we ask you to take the following precautions so our participants can enjoy our wonderful program:

  • Please send proof of vaccination or a medical or religious exemption in advance of the event to events@jespy.org by Tuesday, June 21. Otherwise, we will check your document when you arrive at our event. If we do not receive your proof of vaccination or exemption, we will require you to take a rapid test onsite at the event prior to entrance. 
  • We also request that you take a rapid COVID-19 test within 24 hours prior to the event.
  • If you do not feel well, test positive for COVID-19, or have recently been exposed to COVID-19, please do not attend this event.
  • Please wear a mask indoors when not eating or drinking.

About JESPY House

JESPY House: A Community Based Mission

In 1978 JESPY House was established in South Orange, New Jersey with a mission to advance independence for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). Started by our visionary founders who felt that adults with I/DD deserved an inclusive community where they could learn to live independently, JESPY has grown from first serving 4 clients to now serving 260 adults clients ages 18 and up.

JESPY’s whole-life services promote choice, self-direction and provide for our clients in every facet of their lives.Our much-needed services include residential options, clinical and behavioral health services, engagement and enrichment activities, athletics and fitness, case management, daily life skills training, vocational services, and an aging-in-place initiative.

JESPY House is located at 102 Prospect Street in South Orange, NJ.

We continue to offer more than 100 weekly programs that sustain and build upon social and cognitive connections allowing for skill-building, the learning of new hobbies, and the chance to meet new friends.
